Check-Up Time

Both kids had their check-ups todays (Keller = 18 mth, Vera = 4). They are both, of course, TALL! I know that is a huge surprise. All things considered, they are healthy munchkins. I wanted the doc to give me a pill so that Keller might sleep past 5:30am...but, no luck on that count. Instead, I am supposed to run him for at least an hour before bed...like he doesn't already do that himself.

Vera - 4 Year Appointment

  • weight - 45.8 lbs (90%)
  • height - 44.75 inches (100+)
  • Likes - dogs (no big surprise there), watching Arthur or any dog show, Taylor, carbs - couscous, lots and lots of pasta, Yogurtland, strawberries, swings, the Sea Center, when Keller gets put in time-out, story time - loves Franklin stories or anything to do with animals, chocolate milk, Fifi
Keller - 18th Month Appointment

  • weight - 27 lbs (65ish%)
  • height - 35.25 inches (100%)
  • Likes - dogs (both kids - REALLY), all fruit, Goldfish, picking out his own clothes - usually grabs 3-4 pairs of pants and then is upset when he can't put them all on, kissing, saying "NO!" loudly and as often as possible, the zoo, playing with his bellybutton, taking a shower

San Diego

J gets big Dad points this past weekend for going solo with the kids while I reconnected with my friend in San Diego. Taking the train down on Friday was so relaxing, I was able to finish two books and eat an entire lunch without interruption.

Red and I chillaxed all weekend...and yep, realize that word is totally not cool. But, it sounds so funny when you tell someone to just chillax. We danced, shopped, and ate our way through the weekend. We even managed a seaside run (patting myself on the back for that one).

Yum..this picture was taken at The Firehouse where they served up some delicious breakfast burritos.

Oh, mimosas in the morning is a SD tradition, so we just had to do it. Right?

Random rant: As a mom I feel like I have seen and cleaned-up some pretty disgusting things by this point, you might even say I am a bit jaded on the whole germ front. HOWEVER, walking through the Amtrak train on a crowded Sunday night ride barefoot...not allowed. So gross that I wanted to be a total mom and tell him to put some shoes on his disgusting feet.

Keller Dude

At some point in the last week, Keller has become a Dude. He was no longer the baby, but now is just full-on little boy, ready to run, jump, and crash where appropriate. I wouldn't say that we push "boy" toys on him, but lining up his cars and exploring the bbq seem to run in his blood.

I am also extremely relieved to say that he is talking or at least babbling and we can understand him! "No!" is his clearest word, but we get uh-huh, waa-waa, done, hi, doggy, kitty...plus a few more here and there that I am forgetting now.

Please ignore the fact that in the videos I channel a chipmunk...I do love Alvin.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I swear to you CC and Adam that I took that leash off of Taylor's paci... right after grabbing the camera and taking this picture. But seriously, how did Vera manage to even make Tay play her dog games.

Last night, I started the neverending task of getting our photos organized. But, then of course got distracted when I came upon the disc of pics that my sis had scanned of my mom's. Looking at them, bawling just a bit, and picking out my favorites took most of the night.

J in Japan

J returns tomorrow from a week long trip to Japan for work...and boy do we need some Daddy time around here.

Blue Crayon - $%#@$#@

The photographs don't do justice to the mess that I had to clean yesterday. Now, I have dried chapstick before and it definitely makes a mess leaving our clothes with those dark little grease stains. However, nothing could have prepared me for the damage that three stinking crayons could do to both the dryer and the load of clothes in it. What makes the whole situation worse, it was me! I was trying to keep Keller from eating a few crayons and so I stuck them in the front of blue sweatshirt...a pocket I wouldn't think to check.

After an hour and a half of scrubbing with Comet, Orange-Glo, and vinegar the majority of the blue crayon is off the dryer.

Just for the record, I melted blue, orange, and red.

The clothes, they will never quite be the same. Will the kids wear them anyway...you betcha.
